What it does
When installed, the agent can build publication-ready charts such as training curves, bar charts, heatmaps and multi-panel figures from your experiment results, and write comparison tables as LaTeX. It sets up a shared matplotlib style, writes one Python script per figure, and saves them to a figures folder. It is explicit that architecture diagrams, photos and generated sample grids must still be made by hand, and it preserves any existing figures you add.
Great for
- Researchers preparing plots for a LaTeX paper from JSON or CSV results
- Students who need consistent, print-ready charts for a thesis or report
- Teams that already have a figure plan table in PAPER_PLAN.md
Skip it if
- Architecture or pipeline diagrams, which the skill says must be drawn manually (for example in draw.io or TikZ), since it only produces a rough skeleton at best
- Anyone expecting it to replace manual review of figures; the generated plots still need checking against the real data
- Users who do not want scripts run on their machine, because the skill executes Python plotting code and its tool list includes shell access
Try asking
- “Generate figures for my paper from the results in figures/exp_results.json”
- “Make a training loss curve comparing my factorized and CRF models”
- “Create a LaTeX comparison table of prior bounds and our method”
- “Build a 3x3 multi-panel figure of dataset by method results”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Put a PAPER_PLAN.md figure table in place first so the skill knows which figures are data-driven and which are manual
- Keep experiment data in figures/ or the project root as JSON or CSV so the scripts can find it
- Review every generated figure against your raw numbers before submitting, and check the MCP reviewer setup if you want automated review
