What it does
This skill prepares an existing Python agent recipe to run as a web service in a container. It writes a Dockerfile, a .dockerignore, a FastAPI server file, and several helper modules, then edits the recipe's config to match. A dry run shows the plan first, and it asks the owner questions before applying changes. When Docker is available, it can build and start the container to check that it comes up, and it will not mark a recipe deployable if the container fails.
Great for
- Maintainers of Python ADK recipes who want a Dockerfile and serving setup for Cloud Build or Artifact Registry
- Developers who want to check that a recipe's container starts before publishing it
Skip it if
- Anyone wanting the skill to deploy a service or write terraform: it explicitly does neither, so the result still needs human infrastructure work.
- Recipes with bespoke serving code, such as an existing fast_api_app.py: overwriting it can break custom routing unless the owner explicitly confirms.
- Expecting A2A support to be guaranteed: the generated a2a.py file does not prove an agent works over A2A.
Try asking
- “Make this recipe deployable and show me the plan before applying anything.”
- “Add a Dockerfile to this recipe and the serving files it needs.”
- “Verify that the generated container builds and serves correctly.”
- “Containerize this recipe so it can be pushed to Artifact Registry.”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Run the dry run first and read the plan; approve only after reviewing the six files and three edits it will make.
- If a gate such as adk-locked-version or legacy-app-utils stops the run, have a human change the code rather than working around it.
- Treat an unverified result as files that look correct, not as proof the container works; install Docker to get verified results.
