What it does

This skill teaches an agent to act as a helper for contributors to the google/adk-recipes repository. When asked, the agent reads a recipe folder, looks at its code and README to work out fields like whether it runs standalone, its language and agent count, then drafts a manifest.yaml file and checks it against the repo's JSON schema. It leaves team and owner fields as placeholders for a human to fill in.

Great for

  • Contributors adding a new recipe under core/, contrib/, or plugins/ to the ADK recipes repo
  • Maintainers who want a consistent starting manifest.yaml to review

Skip it if

  • People outside this repository, since it depends on the repo's schema and policy files at fixed paths
  • Anyone expecting a finished manifest: owner and team fields are intentionally placeholders and the agent's inferences need human review

Try asking

  • “Generate a manifest.yaml for core/python/rag-agent-search”
  • “Create a manifest for my recipe at contrib/python/my-recipe”
  • “Scan plugins/retail/store-ops and draft its manifest, then validate it against the schema”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    generate-manifest.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip generate-manifest.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip generate-manifest.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the exact recipe path, such as core/python/your-recipe, so the agent scans the right folder
  • Review the cited file references for type, deployable, and architecture before accepting them
  • Fill in the ownership.team and ownership.poc placeholders yourself; the validator fails until you do
