What it does

Once installed, the agent acts as a lesson-plan specialist. Given a topic and details about the class (grade, class size, prior knowledge, lesson length), it asks for anything missing, then writes measurable objectives, a minute-by-minute teaching process with activities, assessment methods, basic and advanced differentiated tasks, and a board plan. It packages the result as a Word document with a blank reflection section for after the class.

Great for

  • Teachers who need a structured lesson plan drafted quickly for a specific grade and class length
  • Teachers rewriting an existing slide deck or old plan that lacks timing, student activities or assessment
  • Student teachers learning the standard structure of objectives, timed stages and assessment mapping

Skip it if

  • Teachers relying on it to set curriculum standards or textbook page references, since the skill is instructed not to invent them and will use placeholders instead; check these against your own materials
  • Use without reviewing the output for a real class, since timings and difficulty levels are estimates that must be adjusted to the actual students

Try asking

  • “Design a 45-minute grade 8 physics lesson plan on buoyancy”
  • “Rewrite this slide deck into a lesson plan with activities and assessment”
  • “Plan a three-period unit on fractions for grade 5 with differentiated homework”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Lesson Plan DesignerInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    lesson-plan.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip lesson-plan.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip lesson-plan.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the grade level, class size, prior knowledge and lesson length up front so the agent does not need to ask follow-up questions
  • Check the activity timings and the difficulty of the advanced tier against what your students can actually do
  • If you have a textbook or curriculum standard, paste it in so the plan can reference it instead of using placeholders
