What it does

This skill tells an AI agent to turn a privileged internal investigation memo into a shorter summary tailored to a specific reader: HR staff, company leadership, or outside counsel. HR versions leave out legal analysis and attorney impressions, leadership versions stay high-level, and outside counsel versions keep full context. It also tells the agent to offer to draft the memo first if none exists, and to load a separate reference skill (internal-investigation) for the detailed stripping rules and templates.

Great for

  • Employment lawyers or in-house legal teams who need to share investigation findings without exposing privileged work product
  • HR professionals working with counsel on how to communicate an investigation outcome
  • Developers evaluating how Claude legal plugins structure audience-specific document drafting

Skip it if

  • Anyone without a privileged investigation memo to work from, since the skill is built to transform an existing memo rather than investigate facts itself
  • Use as a substitute for legal review: summaries that strip privilege still need a lawyer to confirm what can safely be disclosed, and the skill's output is only as reliable as the memo and the reference skill it depends on
  • Matters where the reference skill internal-investigation is not installed, because the detailed rules it points to are not in this file

Try asking

  • “/employment-legal:investigation-summary Smith complaint hr”
  • “/employment-legal:investigation-summary Q3 harassment matter leadership”
  • “/employment-legal:investigation-summary Vendor fraud review outside-counsel”

  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip investigation-summary.zip -d .claude/skills/

Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Generate the memo first, then run the summary command for each audience so the versions stay consistent.
  • Have counsel review the HR and leadership versions before distribution, since the skill does not verify privilege boundaries itself.
  • Check that the internal-investigation reference skill is installed, because the skill says to load it before substantive work.
