What it does
When a request is vague, such as build me a dashboard or make it faster, the agent stops and interviews you instead of guessing. It asks one focused question at a time, attaches its own best guess, and keeps going until it can state your underlying goal, who it is for, what success looks like, the main constraint, and what is out of scope. It only proceeds once you clearly confirm. The goal is to avoid building the wrong thing before any plan, spec, or code exists.
Great for
- Anyone who starts requests with a vague idea and wants the agent to pin down the real need first
- Developers and product owners who want stress-testing of a plan before work begins
- People who often find they built the wrong thing and want to catch misalignment early
Skip it if
- Simple, unambiguous tasks such as renaming a variable or fixing a typo, where the interview only adds delay
- Autonomous or scheduled runs such as CI pipelines or loops, which the skill says it must not be used in because it needs a live user
- Pure information questions, since the skill is designed for requirements gathering rather than answering how something works
Try asking
- “Build me a dashboard for our team. Interview me before you start.”
- “Make our app faster. Grill me on what that actually means.”
- “Stress-test my thinking about moving our service to microservices.”
- “Before we start on this feature, are we sure it is what we need?”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Answer honestly and push back on guesses that are wrong; the interview works best when you correct the agent rather than agree politely.
- Give a clear yes when you agree with the restated intent, since vague replies like sounds good make the agent ask again.
- Use it before planning or coding, because the value drops sharply once building has started.
