What it does

When you ask your agent to harvest a piece of content, it fetches the article, YouTube transcript or pasted text, sends it to a separate cloud classifier that decides where it belongs, and writes a structured note with the source URL and links to related notes. Asking to mine it produces an analysis of the source's strengths and weaknesses plus suggested ideas for improving your LifeOS setup, which are recommended but never applied automatically.

Great for

  • People running the LifeOS personal knowledge system who want consistent, source-linked notes
  • Users who regularly save articles or videos and want them routed and cross-linked automatically
  • Developers evaluating how a skill wires a local agent to a cloud worker and local executor

Skip it if

  • Anyone without a LifeOS install and a harvest worker: the skill cannot run without its Cloudflare-style service, config file and token (reason: setup is substantial)
  • Sensitive or private text you do not want sent to a third-party cloud worker (reason: the signal body is POSTed over the network)
  • Simple one-off summaries that do not need filing into a knowledge base (reason: the pipeline adds setup and side effects)

Try asking

  • “harvest https://example.com/article-about-habits”
  • “ingest this YouTube link to knowledge: https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID”
  • “save this text to knowledge: <paste notes here>”
  • “mine this for the system: https://example.com/post-about-tools”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Harvest Content into CortexInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 7 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    Harvest.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip Harvest.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip Harvest.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run with --dry-run first to see the detected type and routing without writing anything
  • Keep Config.md and the bearer token out of shared repositories, since they grant access to your harvest worker
  • Check the printed summary for duplicate or thin-fetch warnings before assuming a note was captured
