What it does

Once installed, the agent keeps a registry of the people you buy gifts for (with ages and interests). When you ask for gift ideas, it researches what is currently popular in each person's interests, aims for uncommon, well-made items from makers and specialty shops, and returns a ranked list of about 8 to 12 ideas with links it checked during that run. Every run is saved so later runs avoid repeating earlier ideas. It can also add or update recipients from a sentence you type.

  • People who regularly buy gifts for family, friends or coworkers and want fresher ideas than mass-market listicles
  • Anyone who keeps track of others' ages and interests and wants the agent to use that record
  • Holiday or birthday planning for a group, where one list per person is generated

Get better results

  • Run Setup.md first and fill in the registry with recipient ages and an as-of date, since ages drift and outdated ages produce poor suggestions
  • Review each run's saved copy in ~/Downloads and confirm links are live before buying, because stock and links change
  • Add a size question to the request for clothing or shoes, since the registry usually lacks sizes
