What it does

When installed, the agent gets a detailed playbook for creating or editing Microsoft Power Automate cloud flows without using the web portal. It checks whether a flow already exists, finds the connections the flow needs (such as SharePoint or Outlook), writes the flow's JSON definition, deploys it, and tests it, all by calling tools on a paid FlowStudio MCP server. The reference files add patterns for triggers, actions, data handling and the flow schema.

Great for

  • Power Platform developers who want an AI agent to scaffold or modify flows programmatically
  • Automation builders who already hold a FlowStudio MCP subscription and a valid JWT
  • Teams editing many similar flows who want repeatable build patterns

Skip it if

  • Anyone without a FlowStudio MCP subscription, since the skill cannot run without that server (it is a paid third-party service, not a Microsoft product)
  • Production tenants where an agent deploying flows unreviewed could break business processes or expose data; a human should review definitions before deployment
  • Users who only want to use or run existing flows, not build them

Try asking

  • “Create a flow that posts a Teams message when a new SharePoint list item is added”
  • “Add an approval step and an Outlook email action to my existing expense flow”
  • “Scaffold a scheduled flow that calls an HTTP endpoint and stores the result in Excel”
  • “Check whether a flow named Invoice Sync already exists before building a new one”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Build Power Automate FlowsInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 7 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    flowstudio-power-automate-build.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip flowstudio-power-automate-build.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip flowstudio-power-automate-build.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Call list_live_connections and tool_search first so the agent uses the server's current tool names and parameters; the skill warns these can change.
  • Store the JWT securely and never paste it into shared chats; the helper embeds it as a placeholder you must replace.
  • Review the generated flow JSON and test in a non-production environment before deploying to real users.
