What it does

When asked to audit a repository's AI readiness, the agent runs Microsoft's AgentRC readiness scanner on the project, which produces structured JSON results. It then hands that data to a custom reporting agent that fills in a fixed HTML template and saves a dashboard at reports/index.html. The dashboard shows an overall score, maturity level, nine scored areas, a relevance tag for each, and a prioritised list of fixes. The skill is designed as a measurement step; it does not change the project's code.

Great for

  • Engineering teams wanting a structured checklist of what would help AI coding tools work well in a repo
  • Maintainers preparing a repository for AI-assisted development or CI gating
  • Organisations that want to apply a shared scoring policy across several repositories

Skip it if

  • Non-technical users without Node.js installed, since the scan needs Node 20+ and fetches a package from GitHub
  • Repositories where running external npm packages is not permitted, since the skill executes a remote tool
  • Anyone expecting an independent security or code-quality audit, since it scores AI-readiness only

Try asking

  • “Assess the AI readiness of this repository and give me a report”
  • “Audit how ready this repo is for AI agents using our strict policy file at ./policies/strict.json”
  • “Score this repo's AI setup and tell me the three lowest areas to fix first”
Step-by-step guide: how to use AI Readiness AssessmentInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    acreadiness-assess.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip acreadiness-assess.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip acreadiness-assess.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run it from the repository root so the scan inspects the correct project files.
  • Open reports/index.html directly in a browser; it is a single self-contained file that works offline.
  • Follow the top recommendation by running the companion instruction-generation skill, which is usually the biggest gain.
