What it does

When you ask the agent to analyze a document or web page, this skill makes it produce a Word file on your Desktop. Each point in the analysis is paired with a screenshot of the original text with the supporting phrase highlighted in yellow, so you can check the claim yourself instead of trusting the summary. It works from Word, PDF and RTF files as well as public web pages.

Great for

  • Reviewing contracts, terms of service or policies and checking what they actually say
  • Students or researchers who need verifiable, page-referenced summaries of reports
  • Anyone who wants to audit an AI-written summary against the original source

Skip it if

  • Quick summaries where visual proof is unnecessary, since building the file is slow and involves several steps
  • Confidential or sensitive documents sent to web pages or processed by tools you have not reviewed, because the workflow reads files and fetches URLs and runs a local Python script
  • Scanned or image-only documents, which the text-search approach may not highlight correctly (not stated explicitly in the files, so treat as a likely limitation)

Try asking

  • “Eyeball this document: ~/Documents/vendor-contract.pdf”
  • “Use eyeball to analyze the liability and indemnity clauses in this Word file”
  • “Run eyeball on https://example.com/terms and show me where each claim comes from”
  • “Eyeball the privacy policy I uploaded and flag anything about data sharing”

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    eyeball.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip eyeball.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip eyeball.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run the setup-check command first and install any missing dependencies before analyzing a document
  • Use specific, uncommon quoted phrases as anchors; generic headings can highlight the wrong place
  • If the output says a search term was not found, adjust the anchor to match the exact source wording and rebuild
