What it does

Once installed, the agent keeps a shared ledger of deadlines across a law clinic's cases. You can add a deadline, ask for a rollup of what is overdue or due in the next 3, 7 or 14 days (by owner and practice area), update, complete or close items. It warns at configurable thresholds (default 14, 7, 3 and 1 days before due) and keeps overdue items flagged until someone resolves them. It also sanity-checks entered due dates against typical ranges, but only if a jurisdiction-specific band file exists, and it asks for confirmation before writing changes.

Great for

  • Law clinic supervising attorneys who need a central record of case deadlines
  • Students carrying multiple cases who need a deadline list that survives handoffs
  • Clinics that want to catch likely duplicate or mis-computed deadlines before they are saved

Skip it if

  • Relying on it as legal advice or as the authoritative source for computing deadlines: the skill itself says to confirm against the governing rule, since deadlines vary by jurisdiction and court
  • Clinics in a state without a plausibility band file: the skill will still track deadlines but cannot sanity-check dates, so dates must be verified manually
  • Anyone expecting automatic reminders outside the agent session: the files describe warnings but do not describe any push notification or scheduling mechanism

Try asking

  • “Add a deadline: response to motion due 2026-05-10 for case Smith-042, owner Maria”
  • “What's due this week across all cases?”
  • “Give me the deadline report grouped by owner”
  • “Mark deadline smith-response-2026-05 complete after confirming the brief was filed”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    deadlines.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip deadlines.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip deadlines.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Set up CLAUDE.md with your jurisdiction and warning-day cadence before the first --add so the plausibility checks and warnings use the right rules
  • Have a supervisor confirm every due date against the governing rule; the skill is a tracker, not a computation authority
  • Use --report at the start of each week and before handoffs so overdue items are reviewed and resolved
