What it does
When installed, the agent follows current MSTest best practices for C# unit tests. It structures test classes (sealed, with AAA arrange-act-assert layout and MethodName_Scenario_ExpectedBehavior naming), chooses the right modern assertion APIs such as Assert.Throws and Assert.ContainsSingle, and uses DataRow and DynamicData for data-driven tests. It is a written guide of conventions; it does not run tests by itself.
Great for
- C# developers writing or reviewing unit tests with MSTest
- Teams upgrading from older MSTest versions to 3.x or 4.x APIs
- Developers who want consistent test naming and structure across a project
Skip it if
- Projects using NUnit, xUnit or other test frameworks, since the guidance is MSTest-specific
- Non-.NET languages, where these C# APIs do not apply
Try asking
- “Write MSTest unit tests for my CalculatorService class using modern assertions”
- “Convert these old StringAssert and CollectionAssert calls to the Assert class equivalents”
- “Add data-driven DataRow tests for my date parser covering edge cases”
- “Set up a new MSTest.Tests project for my C# library”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Name the MSTest version you use (3.x or 4.x) so the agent picks the right type-assertion syntax
- Ask the agent to review existing tests against these conventions rather than only writing new ones
- Check generated tests by running dotnet test yourself, since the agent's code is not verified by the skill
