What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent how to set up recurring background jobs for the GBrain knowledge system. It checks that new jobs do not collide on a 5-minute time slot, holds their output during quiet hours (11 PM to 8 AM by default) unless the user is awake, and registers them with a host scheduler such as crontab or Railway cron. It also covers making jobs safe to re-run and calling GBrain through a wrapper command.
Great for
- Developers running GBrain on a server who want scheduled syncs and maintenance jobs
- Operators managing multi-source GBrain brains who need consolidated cron lines
- Anyone who wants scheduled jobs that respect quiet hours
Skip it if
- People who have never run a cron job or do not have GBrain installed, since the instructions assume it (the skill is not useful on its own)
- Setups where the crontab or database is edited without review, because a wrong entry can silently find an empty database or run duplicate work
- Users who do not want the agent to modify scheduler configuration, since the skill is marked mutating and writes to pages and reports
Try asking
- “Schedule a job that syncs all my GBrain sources every 5 minutes”
- “What jobs are running right now?”
- “Set up a nightly report job and check that it does not collide with existing jobs”
- “Add a cron entry that respects my quiet hours”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Test every new cron job on 3-5 items first, as the skill's convention requires
- Run gbrain doctor after setup to catch crontab lines that bypass the gbrain-run wrapper
- Check the managed or classic brain mode before installing a sync line, since managed brains need different flags
