What it does
When installed, the agent can turn a description of a feature, refactor, package upgrade, or architecture/infrastructure change into a formal plan file saved in a /plan/ folder. The plan is split into phases with requirements, constraints, tasks in tables, and validation criteria so that another AI agent or a person can carry it out step by step. The skill is mainly a detailed template and set of formatting rules; it does not itself change your code.
Great for
- Developers who want a consistent, detailed written plan before starting a large change
- Teams that hand off work between AI agents and humans and need machine-readable task lists
- Anyone upgrading packages or refactoring code who wants tracked phases and task status
Skip it if
- Quick one-off edits or small bug fixes, where the template adds heavy overhead
- Situations where you need a plan reviewed against your real codebase: the skill's instructions do not tell the agent to inspect files, so plans may contain guessed file paths and function names
- Non-technical users looking for a general project plan, since the output is tailored to software implementation
Try asking
- “Create an implementation plan for adding OAuth login to our web app”
- “Make an implementation plan for upgrading from React 17 to React 18”
- “Write a plan to refactor the billing module into separate services”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Give a specific purpose in your request (feature, refactor, upgrade, or infrastructure) so the agent picks the right file prefix such as feature- or upgrade-.
- Review the generated file paths and function names against your repository before executing the plan, since the skill does not require the agent to verify them.
- The skill includes an optional bash check for duplicate identifiers; you can run it yourself on the plan file, or ask the agent to do so.
