What it does

This skill teaches an AI agent to stop polling for problems in a Convex app (a hosted backend platform for web apps). Instead, the agent calls a blocking tool called wait_for_event, which waits until one of several things happens first: a local Convex error appears, a production error is recorded by Sentinel, a feature request arrives, or a timeout passes with a quiet heartbeat. The agent then decodes and fixes the error, triages the production issue, builds the requested feature, or simply waits again.

Great for

  • Developers building or maintaining a Convex app who want the agent to react to errors as they happen
  • Teams using Sentinel to record production errors in a deployed Convex app
  • People working in agent harnesses that support blocking MCP tools, or using a poll-loop fallback such as Copilot cloud

Skip it if

  • Projects that do not use Convex, since the event sources and tools are specific to it
  • Production triage without a deployed cloud app and Sentinel, because prod_error events require both; the agent may act on noisy or incomplete signals
  • Anyone who wants the agent to make unreviewed changes automatically, since the workflow fixes errors and builds features as they arrive

Try asking

  • “Watch my Convex project for the next dev error and fix it”
  • “Monitor production for new Sentinel errors and triage them”
  • “Wait for the next feature request in my Convex app and build it”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    convex-monitor.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip convex-monitor.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip convex-monitor.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Set a sensible timeout_ms and event_kinds so the agent is not woken by events you do not care about
  • Review fixes to production errors before they are deployed, especially when acting on prod_error events
  • Check the project_dir value so the watcher points at the correct Convex project
