What it does
This skill gives an AI agent a map of tools for making video games: game engines like Godot, pygame and Panda3D, 2D and 3D art tools, sound and music tools, AI image and audio generators, automated play testing, building game packages, and uploading them to stores like Steam or itch.io. It checks which of these tools are installed or have credentials set, then recommends options and asks the user before using paid services. Its main value is organising this choice for the agent; it does not itself create games.
Great for
- Indie game developers who want an agent to help across engine, art, packaging and release steps
- Developers evaluating which game tools and APIs are available before committing to one
- Teams wanting an agent to run a preflight check of installed game tools and credentials
Skip it if
- Users who only need a single task like sprite editing, where a dedicated tool is simpler (the matrix adds overhead)
- Anyone who wants automatic store publishing without reviewing credentials, since the skill routes uploads to Steam and other stores that need account logins and payment
- Unity or Unreal projects, which the file states are not covered by this matrix
Try asking
- “Check which game development tools and API keys are available on my machine before we start”
- “Suggest the best way to make 2D sprites for my pygame project, considering cost and offline use”
- “Package my Godot game for itch.io and tell me what credentials I need to upload it”
- “Set up a headless playtest of my game using Godot and GUT”

Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip game-development.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip game-development.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Run the preflight command first to see what is installed and which credentials are set, and review the output before proceeding.
- Use a dedicated build account for Steam credentials to limit exposure, as the skill itself recommends.
- Answer 'skip' to the suggested prompts if you do not want to incur paid or metered API costs.
