What it does

This skill teaches an AI agent to operate a command-line tool called cli-anything-ccswitch, which controls CC Switch, a desktop app that manages settings for AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, and Gemini CLI. Once installed, the agent can list and switch API provider configurations, check the local proxy, enable MCP servers, read usage and cost statistics, browse past sessions, and change some settings. Read commands are described as safe, while a few commands write changes directly to the CC Switch database.

Great for

  • Developers who already use CC Switch and want an agent to inspect or adjust their AI tool setup
  • People who prefer driving CC Switch from the terminal or scripts instead of its desktop interface
  • Users who want an agent to pull API usage and cost figures for recent days

Skip it if

  • People who do not have CC Switch installed, since the skill needs its SQLite database at ~/.cc-switch/cc-switch.db (the tool cannot work without it)
  • Use where agents should not change configuration unattended: commands like providers set-current, proxy config, mcp enable and settings set modify the live database directly, so a wrong change could break a working AI tool setup

Try asking

  • “Show me all my configured providers for Claude and which one is currently active”
  • “Switch my active Claude provider to the one with id <provider-id>”
  • “How much did I spend on API usage over the last 30 days, grouped for Claude?”
  • “List my enabled MCP servers and enable the filesystem server for Claude”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    skills.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip skills.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip skills.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Always pass --json before the subcommand so the agent gets machine-readable output, and check the exit code (0 success, 1 error) before parsing
  • Ask the agent to run read-only commands first and confirm with you before any set-current, config, enable or set command, since those write to the database
  • Keep a backup of ~/.cc-switch/cc-switch.db before letting an agent make configuration changes
