What it does

This skill teaches an AI agent to control Blender, a free 3D modelling and rendering program, through a command-line tool called cli-anything-blender. Instead of clicking around Blender, the agent can add objects, materials, cameras, lights and animation keyframes, save the scene as a JSON project file, undo or redo changes, and render images or previews. The tool works by generating Blender Python scripts and running Blender to produce the actual render.

Great for

  • Developers or technical artists who want an AI agent to automate repetitive 3D scene setup
  • Creators who want to iterate on a simple 3D scene by describing changes in plain language
  • Teams building agent workflows that need visual checkpoints of a 3D scene

Skip it if

  • People with no Blender installed and no interest in installing it, since the skill depends on a local Blender 4.2+ install
  • Complex professional modelling work that needs Blender's full GUI tools, since this covers a defined command set only

Try asking

  • “Create a new Blender scene with a red cube, a camera and a sun light, then render a quick preview”
  • “Set the metallic and roughness of the cube's material to 0.8 and 0.2 and show me the scene info”
  • “Add a keyframe moving the camera from frame 1 to frame 120 at 24 fps and render the animation”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    skills.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip skills.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip skills.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Ask the agent to use --json output so it can read structured results reliably
  • Use the preview capture command to check the scene visually before a full render
  • Save the project file regularly, since undo history is limited to 50 levels and is not a substitute for saving
