What it does

This skill teaches an AI agent to drive WaveTone 2.61, a Windows audio transcription program. The agent can create a small JSON project file that records a source audio file, tempo, meter, labels and intended analysis settings, probe audio metadata, check that WaveTone is installed, and launch the real WaveTone application. The actual analysis and saving of outputs (WFD, MIDI, text, WAVE) is still done by WaveTone itself.

Great for

  • Musicians or transcribers who already use WaveTone 2.61 on Windows and want an agent to prepare project files
  • Developers building automated audio-transcription pipelines that include a Windows WaveTone step

Skip it if

  • Users on macOS or Linux, since the skill requires a Windows host and the WaveTone executable
  • People who expect the agent to perform transcription itself; the JSON manifest is only a plan and WaveTone does the analysis
  • Anyone who does not already have a legitimately obtained WaveTone 2.61 copy installed, since the skill cannot provide it

Try asking

  • “Create a WaveTone project for my recording song.wav and set the tempo to 120 BPM in 4/4”
  • “Probe the audio metadata of interview.wav before I open it in WaveTone”
  • “Add a label called chorus at 64 seconds to my existing WaveTone project file”
  • “Check whether WaveTone is installed correctly on this Windows machine”
Step-by-step guide: how to use WaveTone Audio Workflow ControlInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the Apache-2.0 licence and an attribution note.

    cli-anything-wavetone.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip cli-anything-wavetone.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip cli-anything-wavetone.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Set WAVETONE_EXE explicitly if WaveTone is not in the default portable path, and run the doctor command first to confirm the setup
  • Use the --json flag on every command so the agent can parse results reliably
  • Use the --terminate option in automated checks so no GUI process is left running
