What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent how to operate an n8n workflow automation server through a command-line tool called cli-anything-n8n. Once installed, the agent can list, create, update, activate, and delete workflows, check or retry executions, and manage credentials, variables, and tags on your n8n instance. It is meant to be used with a configured n8n URL and API key.
Great for
- Developers who run their own n8n instance and want an agent to inspect or change workflows
- Operations staff who need to retry failed executions or toggle workflow activation in bulk
- Teams that keep workflow definitions as JSON files and want an agent to push them to n8n
Skip it if
- Anyone without an n8n server or API key, since the tool cannot do anything useful without a connected instance
- Use on a production n8n instance without review, because the agent can delete workflows and credentials and change live automations
- Tasks needing data tables, credential listing or stopping executions, which the skill says are not available through the public API
Try asking
- “List all active workflows on my n8n instance and show which ones failed in the last day”
- “Retry the failed execution with ID 1042”
- “Create a new workflow from the JSON file at @workflows/invoice.json and tag it billing”
- “Update the variable WEBHOOK_URL to the new staging address”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Use a dedicated n8n API key with the narrowest permissions possible, and test on a staging instance first
- Ask the agent to show the workflow or credential before deleting or transferring it
- Keep the agent's requests to specific IDs, since all IDs are strings and deletions are hard to undo
