What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent to drive a command-line tool that creates and edits office documents: word-processing files (Writer), spreadsheets (Calc) and presentations (Impress). Instead of opening a window, the agent runs commands that build a project file, add paragraphs, tables, sheet cells or slides, and then export the result, such as a PDF. It can also import existing DOCX, XLSX, PPTX or ODF files into an editable project and supports undo and redo.
Great for
- Developers who want an agent to generate or batch-edit office documents in a scripted pipeline
- Data users who need spreadsheets or reports produced from structured inputs
- Anyone automating document creation on a server without a desktop environment
Skip it if
- Users who need precise visual layout or formatting control, since the skill covers only a subset of commands (for example, no direct formatting options are listed beyond styles)
- Sensitive documents processed on a shared machine, because the tool reads and writes local files and is installed as a Python package whose code was not reviewed here
Try asking
- “Create a new Writer document with a heading, three paragraphs and a table, then export it to PDF”
- “Import an existing DOCX report, change the text of a section, and save it as an ODF file”
- “Add a sheet to a spreadsheet project, set several cell values, and read one back”
- “Build a five-slide presentation project and list the slides to check the result”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Always pass the --json flag when an agent needs to parse output, and use absolute file paths
- Import existing Office files into project JSON first, then edit, then export
- Verify that the exported file exists and check the return code after each command
