What it does
This skill teaches an AI agent to drive EEZ Studio, a visual design tool for embedded device screens, through a command-line program called cli-anything-eez-studio. Instead of clicking through the app, the agent can create .eez-project files, add labels and buttons to LVGL screens, list widgets, and define SCPI instrument commands and parameters. For some build tasks it calls the real EEZ Studio backend, which requires a separate local copy of the EEZ Studio source built with Node.js.
Great for
- Embedded developers who want an agent to scaffold LVGL screens for EEZ Studio projects
- Engineers defining SCPI command metadata for lab instruments in bulk
- Teams scripting repeatable EEZ Studio project edits or simulator builds
Skip it if
- Non-developers who just want a visual design tool: it requires a Python install and command-line work
- Users who cannot install a Python package and clone and build a large Node.js project, since the backend features will not work without it
- Projects where the agent should not modify files without review: one-shot --project commands auto-save changes unless --dry-run is used
Try asking
- “Create a new EEZ project called Panel and add a Ready label and a Run button to it”
- “List all widgets in my panel.eez-project file”
- “Add a SCPI subsystem with a :VOLTage? command and an optional channel parameter”
- “Build the LVGL simulator for my project into build/sim”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Always pass --json so the agent gets machine-readable output, as the skill instructs.
- Use --dry-run first on project edits you want to review, since one-shot commands auto-save by default.
- Run backend status before backend-inspect or simulator-build to confirm the EEZ Studio source is found.
