What it does
Once installed, the agent acts like a senior software architect when given a product requirements document for a large feature (an epic). It produces a Markdown architecture specification covering an overview, a Mermaid system diagram, the main features and technical enablers, the technology stack, a technical value rating, and a t-shirt size estimate. The skill assumes a specific stack (TypeScript/Next.js, tRPC, Docker, Stack Auth, PostgreSQL, Redis, Qdrant, n8n) and asks the agent to avoid writing code beyond pseudocode.
Great for
- Engineering leads planning an epic from a written PRD before development starts
- Teams already using the TypeScript/Next.js, Turborepo, tRPC and Docker stack described in the prompt
- Developers who want a consistent first-draft architecture document to refine with colleagues
Skip it if
- Teams on a different stack, since the prompt hard-codes technologies that may not fit (reason: output will be steered toward components they do not use)
- Anyone expecting a verified or production-ready design, since the output is an AI-generated draft that needs expert review (reason: architecture decisions carry cost and security consequences)
Try asking
- “Here is our epic PRD for self-service billing. Produce the architecture spec with a Mermaid diagram.”
- “Based on this PRD, list the high-level features and technical enablers for our notifications epic.”
- “Estimate the t-shirt size and technical value for this epic PRD, with justification.”

Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip breakdown-epic-arch.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip breakdown-epic-arch.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Provide a detailed PRD, since the output quality depends on the requirements given
- Review the chosen stack against your real environment and edit the diagram before sharing it
- Save the output under the path the prompt suggests, or adjust it to match your repository layout
