What it is
Agent Reach is a command-line toolkit that gives an AI agent access to platforms it cannot normally reach, such as sites behind logins, video subtitles, and Chinese platforms like Bilibili and Xiaohongshu. It installs and configures the upstream tools for each platform, and the agent calls it with commands like agent-reach bilibili search. The README says it is read-only, meaning it searches and reads but does not post, comment, or message.
- Ask an agent to search Bilibili for a topic and summarize results
- Have an agent read a V2EX thread and its replies
- Fetch a GitHub repository's README or issue discussions for an agent to analyze
- Pull YouTube video subtitles or transcribe audio for a summary
Great for
- Developers building or using AI agents that need web content beyond basic search
- People who want Bilibili, V2EX, Xueqiu or Xiaohongshu content available to an agent
- Users of CLI agents such as Claude Code who want extra data sources
- Anyone who wants to pull YouTube subtitles or transcripts into an agent workflow
Not ideal for
- People who need to post, comment or message on platforms, since the README says the tool is read-only
- Users who do not want an agent to reuse their browser logins, since some platforms copy existing Chrome logins for the session
- Those needing guaranteed stability on experimental platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram), which the README says may break at any time
How to get it
- 1
See the README
You'll need: Python 3.10+
Install via agent prompt
帮我安装 Agent Reach:https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Panniantong/Agent-Reach/main/docs/install.mdConfigure Groq key in your own terminal
agent-reach configure groq-key - 2
Run it
- Send the install prompt to your AI agent and allow it to run commands
- Ask the agent to show channel status, or run agent-reach channels
- Try a search, for example agent-reach bilibili search "大模型"
- Ask the agent to add optional channels like Xiaohongshu when needed
- 3
Get the most out of it
- Use agent-reach read <url> to let the tool pick a channel automatically based on the link
- Enable optional channels such as Xiaohongshu, Reddit or LinkedIn by asking the agent
- Set up a Groq or OpenAI key to enable YouTube and Xiaoyuzhou transcription
- Use a secondary account for logins, as the README recommends, to limit exposure of your main account
Downloads
Strengths
- Installs and tests the upstream tools per platform so the agent uses one consistent command set
- Keeps all its files in one folder (~/.agent-reach/) for easier upgrade and removal
- Read-only design with the README stating it never asks for passwords
Trade-offs
- Some platforms depend on login sessions, and the README notes that copied sessions often belong to the main account
- Experimental platforms may stop working without notice
- Some features need a Groq or OpenAI API key, which the README says to enter in your own terminal
