What it is
ego lite is a desktop browser where you and AI agents work in parallel. Agents run their browser tasks in isolated workspaces called Spaces inside the same browser, while you keep browsing in your own tabs. It is meant to be used with agent tools such as Claude Code or Codex through a skill called ego-browser.
- Ask an agent to follow an account or perform steps on a site you are logged into
- Run several agent tasks in parallel, each in its own Space, such as enriching leads or scraping sites
- Let an agent read page content as a structured text snapshot and act on it
Great for
- Developers who use Claude Code, Codex, or similar agent CLIs and want them to act in a logged-in browser
- People who want agents to automate web tasks without taking over their own browser window
- Users on macOS or Windows who want a simple setup without managing a separate browser process
Not ideal for
- Linux users, since the README says Linux is only on the roadmap
- People who need a fully headless, cloud-hosted browser, since this runs on your own machine
- Anyone who wants independently verified performance claims, since the README's speed and cost figures are the project's own and are not backed by linked benchmarks
How to get it
- 1
Download the app
Add the ego-browser skill (optional, alongside the app download)
npx skills add citrolabs/ego-lite - 2
Run it
- Download and open the app for your platform, or run the npx skills command
- On first launch, choose whether to migrate your Chrome data
- In your agent CLI, type /ego-browser followed by a space and describe a task in plain language
- Watch the agent work in its own Space while your tabs stay untouched
- 3
Get the most out of it
- Use the Chrome data migration on first launch so the agent inherits your logins, cookies, extensions, and bookmarks
- Run multiple tasks at once, each in its own Space, for parallel work
- Use the Spaces view to see which Space has an agent running and take over or stop it
- Check the docs at lite.ego.app for further configuration

Strengths
- Agents can use your existing logins and tabs without taking control of your browser window
- Each agent gets its own isolated Space, so parallel tasks do not collide
- Works with any agent CLI that can call the ego-browser skill, per the README
Trade-offs
- Speed, token, and success-rate claims come from the project itself and are not independently verified in the README
- Data import from Chrome and some features such as experience accumulation are either optional or marked coming soon
- Currently limited to macOS and Windows
