What it does
TensorBoard is Google's free dashboard for watching machine learning training runs. With this skill installed, the agent knows how to write the logging code for PyTorch or TensorFlow so that loss curves, accuracy, weight distributions, images, model graphs, embedding projections and hyperparameter comparisons appear in a local web dashboard. It can also guide you through launching that dashboard and comparing several experiment runs side by side.
Great for
- ML engineers who want to add TensorBoard logging to a PyTorch or Keras training loop
- Researchers comparing several training runs or learning-rate settings
- Students learning how to inspect what a model is doing during training
Skip it if
- Users who do not train models; the skill assumes an existing training script and adds logging to it
- Teams needing hosted, shared experiment tracking across an organisation, where a dedicated tracking service may suit better
- Anyone expecting the skill to visualise data without writing and running Python code in their own project
Try asking
- “Add TensorBoard logging of training and validation loss to my PyTorch training loop”
- “Log weight and gradient histograms each epoch so I can spot vanishing gradients”
- “Set up a TensorBoard callback for my Keras model.fit call and show me how to launch it”
- “Compare three learning rates as separate runs and log their hyperparameters”

Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip tensorboard.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip tensorboard.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Give the agent your actual training script so it can insert logging calls in the right places rather than writing generic examples.
- Use a distinct log directory per run (for example runs/lr0.01) so TensorBoard can compare them in one dashboard.
- Keep histogram logging infrequent on large models, since it adds overhead and large log files.
