What it does
Superself is a command-line tool that keeps a project's goals, decisions, work items and progress reports in an append-only log stored in a separate git repository. This skill teaches the agent to read that state at the start of a session, attach its work to tracked work units, report progress with evidence such as commit hashes, and record decisions the user has confirmed, so a later session can pick up where this one stopped.
Great for
- Developers already using the Superself CLI to track project state across multiple AI agent sessions
- Teams that want decisions and work status kept in a git-backed log rather than hand-edited notes
Skip it if
- Projects that do not use Superself: the skill says to stop if the self command is missing, but it adds process overhead with no benefit there
- Anyone wanting a general task manager: it is tied to the self CLI and its own store, and the agent will write records into that store on your behalf
Try asking
- “Start this session by reading the project's Superself context and tell me what is open”
- “Create a work unit for adding rate limiting to the login endpoint and start it”
- “Record that we decided to use PostgreSQL, with the reason we confirmed today”
- “Report progress on work unit 42 and attach the latest commit as evidence”

Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip superself.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip superself.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Check that self --version works before relying on the skill, and run self <command> --help if you use a different CLI version than 0.6.1
- Confirm each decision and project registration yourself: the skill asks before connecting or registering projects, and writes records in English
- Keep the superself store in its own git repository and do not hand-edit anything under .superself/
