What it does
Once installed, the agent knows how to design and write its own skills: small folders with a SKILL.md instruction file plus optional scripts, reference notes and templates. It explains how to keep instructions concise, when to use scripts versus plain text, and how to structure the folder. It also ships helper scripts that create a new skill from a template, check that its frontmatter is valid, and bundle the folder into a .skill file.
Great for
- Developers who want to package their own know-how as a reusable agent skill
- Teams building internal skills with company-specific workflows or schemas
- Anyone learning how the skill format is structured
Skip it if
- Ordinary end users who only want to use an existing skill; this one builds skills, it does not do a domain task
- Environments where running Python scripts is not allowed, since the helper tools need Python and PyYAML to run
Try asking
- “Create a new skill called invoice-helper for processing our invoice PDFs”
- “Review my SKILL.md and tell me whether the frontmatter and structure follow best practice”
- “Package my my-api-helper skill folder into a .skill file for distribution”
- “Update an existing skill so its instructions are shorter and move details into references files”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Run quick_validate.py after editing SKILL.md to catch frontmatter errors before packaging.
- Keep the description field specific about when the skill should trigger, since only name and description are read up front.
- Review the scripts before running them, and note that the LICENSE.txt is proprietary wording even though the scripts are Apache-2.0 licensed.
