What it does
When you ask your agent to run a machine learning experiment, this skill tells it how to follow a fixed routine: read your project's CLAUDE.md settings to find where the GPU is, check that the GPU is free, copy over only the code files, optionally add Weights & Biases logging, and start the training job in a named screen session with its output saved to a log file. It can also hand off to rented cloud GPUs (Vast.ai) or Modal's serverless GPUs.
Great for
- ML researchers who train models on a remote GPU server over SSH and want the agent to handle the launch steps
- People renting temporary cloud GPUs on Vast.ai or Modal who want setup and launch automated
- Teams who keep experiment settings in a CLAUDE.md file and want consistent launches
Skip it if
- Users without access to a GPU machine or cloud GPU account, since the skill only automates launching jobs that run elsewhere; it does not provide compute
- Anyone who wants to run the agent against production servers or shared machines without reviewing commands first, because it runs shell commands, rsync, and installs packages with broad permissions (Bash(*))
- Non-ML tasks, since it is specific to training and experiment deployment
Try asking
- “run experiment: train my ResNet baseline on the remote server using GPU 1”
- “deploy to server and launch the ablation with learning rate 3e-4”
- “Launch the training job on my Vast.ai instance and log it to Weights & Biases”
- “Run this experiment on Modal serverless GPU”

Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip run-experiment.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip run-experiment.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Keep your CLAUDE.md environment settings accurate before running, since the skill relies on them to choose the target machine and environment.
- Review the commands the agent proposes, especially rsync and pip install steps, before approving them, since the skill allows broad shell access.
- Never paste API keys into chat; store W&B and cloud credentials in the environment or CLI config as the skill's login steps expect.
