What it does

When installed, the agent can take a research artifact written in Markdown (such as an idea report, review summary, or research wiki summary) and convert it into one self-contained HTML file with a table of contents, callouts and optional math and code highlighting. The Markdown stays the source of truth; the HTML is a generated reading view that records the source file's hash and timestamp so you can tell if it has gone stale.

Great for

  • Researchers who use the ARIS workflow and want readable views of IDEA_REPORT or AUTO_REVIEW files
  • Anyone who needs to share a Markdown report as a polished single web page
  • Users who prefer offline rendering without installing extra Python packages

Skip it if

  • LaTeX paper output, since the final reader artifact is a PDF (the skill says not to use it there)
  • Untrusted Markdown from unknown sources, because the helper runs locally and the sanitizer is only a safety net for scripts and unsafe links
  • Users who need to hand-edit the HTML, because the HTML is regenerated from source and manual edits will be lost

Try asking

  • “Render idea-stage/IDEA_REPORT.md to HTML using the academic template”
  • “Make this research wiki SUMMARY.md readable as a dashboard”
  • “Export AUTO_REVIEW.md with its REVIEW_STATE.json embedded as an HTML report”
  • “Render this Markdown file offline with no CDN loading”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Render Markdown to HTMLInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 4 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    render-html.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip render-html.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip render-html.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Use --offline when working with sensitive content so the HTML does not load external CDN scripts.
  • Re-render after editing the Markdown source rather than editing the HTML directly.
  • Check the source SHA256 and timestamp in the page header to confirm the HTML matches the current source.
