What it does

This skill teaches the agent a method for product discovery. Given a list of assumptions about a product or idea, the agent scores each one on expected impact and risk, places it in a 2x2 matrix, and decides what to do: defer, proceed, reject, or test. For assumptions that need testing, it proposes a small experiment with a clear success metric. It draws on ICE and RICE scoring concepts and says to read any files or research the user provides first.

Great for

  • Product managers deciding which assumptions to validate first
  • Founders or small teams planning discovery work before building
  • Students learning product discovery frameworks

Skip it if

  • Tasks needing hard numbers: the skill has no data source, so scores depend on judgement the user supplies, and results can look more precise than they are
  • Teams that already have a validated roadmap and only need execution help, since the skill adds an analysis step rather than building anything

Try asking

  • “Here are 12 assumptions behind our new onboarding flow. Prioritize them with an Impact × Risk matrix.”
  • “Which of these assumptions should we test first before building the pricing page?”
  • “Apply the assumption prioritization canvas to the notes in research/interviews.md and suggest experiments.”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    prioritize-assumptions.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip prioritize-assumptions.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip prioritize-assumptions.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give concrete assumptions in a list, with any interview notes or data files, so the agent can ground its scoring.
  • Ask the agent to state its impact and confidence estimates so you can challenge them before acting on the matrix.
  • Pair with the prioritization-frameworks skill if you want full ICE or RICE formulas and templates.
