What it does

When installed, the agent can take a finished research paper and produce a slide deck for a conference talk, in two formats: a polished LaTeX Beamer PDF and an editable PowerPoint (PPTX) file. It also writes speaker notes per slide and can draft a full talk script. It follows templates for poster talks, spotlights, oral talks and invited talks, choosing a slide count that fits the talk length.

Great for

  • Researchers preparing an oral, spotlight or invited talk for an ML or systems conference
  • Students who need a first draft of conference slides from their paper
  • Authors who want both a LaTeX PDF and an editable PPTX version

Skip it if

  • Writing the paper itself, since the skill only builds slides from an existing paper and points elsewhere for paper writing (the file names other skills for that)
  • Users who need a final polished deck without review, because generated slides and notes can contain errors or misstate results and should be checked against the paper

Try asking

  • “Turn my compiled paper into a 15-minute oral talk with speaker notes”
  • “Make a 6-slide poster-talk deck from this PDF with a QR code slide”
  • “Generate an editable PPTX and a Beamer PDF for my spotlight presentation”
  • “Draft a timed talk script for my 30-minute invited talk”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Conference Talk Slide BuilderInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    presenting-conference-talks.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip presenting-conference-talks.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip presenting-conference-talks.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the agent the compiled paper and state the talk type and duration so it picks the right slide count.
  • Check every number and figure reference on the generated slides against the paper before presenting.
  • Treat the PPTX as a starting point for last-minute edits and keep a recorded backup of any live demo, as the skill itself recommends.
