What it does

When you ask your agent to write a pull request description, this skill makes it follow a set template: a Summary with a small diagram, tree or diff sketch, an Evidence section showing before and after results, and a Merge Danger section saying whether the change is easy to undo (a two-way door) or hard to reverse (a one-way door) and what else it might affect. It also gives guidance on picking the simplest visual and keeping prose brief. It is a writing template, not a tool that changes code.

Great for

  • Developers who open pull requests and want consistent, reviewer-friendly descriptions
  • Teams that want every PR to state its rollback risk and blast radius
  • Anyone who wants a visual summary (Mermaid sequence diagram, call tree, file tree) in PR text

Skip it if

  • Projects that do not use pull requests or have their own PR template: the fixed format may clash with local conventions
  • Non-technical users who only need a plain summary: the template assumes code, diagrams and test output
  • Situations needing verified evidence: the skill tells the agent what to write, but does not run tests or capture screenshots itself

Try asking

  • “Write a PR body for my current branch using the pr template”
  • “Draft a PR description for this refactor with a Mermaid sequence diagram in the Summary”
  • “Fill in the Merge Danger section for this database migration PR”
Step-by-step guide: how to use PR Body WriterInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 3 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    pr.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip pr.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip pr.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Paste the actual test output or before and after details into the request so the Evidence section is filled with real results, not placeholders.
  • The template refers to a GLOSSARY.md file for domain language; provide one in your repo or the agent may ignore that step.
  • Ask for a specific rollback risk assessment in the Merge Danger section if your change touches data or public interfaces.
