What it does

When you ask the agent to stress-test a plan or design, this skill makes it question you relentlessly until the idea is sharper. As decisions come out of that interview, it also records them in project documentation, such as architecture decision records (short notes explaining why a choice was made) and a glossary of domain terms. The SKILL.md itself only tells the agent to call two other skills, one named grilling and one named domain-modeling, so the detailed behaviour depends on those.

Great for

  • Developers who want a plan challenged before they start building
  • Teams that want design decisions and domain terms written down as a byproduct of planning

Skip it if

  • Quick questions or small tasks where a long interview would slow you down
  • Projects that do not keep docs, since the skill is built to create them. Also, the referenced grilling and domain-modeling skills are not in these files, so their behaviour cannot be checked here

Try asking

  • “Grill this migration plan and record the key decisions as ADRs”
  • “Interview me about the design of our checkout service and update the glossary”
  • “Sharpen this feature spec and capture any new domain terms”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Grill With DocsInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 2 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    grill-with-docs.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip grill-with-docs.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip grill-with-docs.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Have the plan or design ready in the conversation or a file before invoking the skill, so the interview has something concrete to test
  • Check the generated ADRs and glossary entries, since they become project records
