What it does

This skill teaches an AI agent to use Parallel's command-line tool for live web work. Instead of answering only from memory, the agent can search the web, pull text from a specific URL or PDF, fill in extra fields for a list of companies or people, find entities matching a description, or run a long multi-source report. It also prefers scholarly and institutional sources for scientific questions and asks the service to return source links and confidence for each field.

Great for

  • Researchers who need current web evidence with source links for a technical or scientific question
  • Analysts enriching a supplied list of companies or people with web-sourced fields
  • Developers who want an agent to drive the parallel-cli tool for search and extraction
  • Teams that need recurring tracking of web changes on a set schedule

Skip it if

  • Tasks that must avoid sending queries or content to a third-party paid API, since every capability calls Parallel's online service
  • Quick one-off facts that a normal web search covers, because Deep Research and Monitor are slower and cost more
  • Users without a Parallel API key or CLI login, since the skill cannot run without one

Try asking

  • “Find recent peer-reviewed studies on CRISPR off-target effects and cite authors and DOIs”
  • “Extract the main text and tables from this PDF URL”
  • “Add the headquarters city and employee count to this spreadsheet of 50 companies”
  • “Run an exhaustive report on battery recycling regulation and track it weekly”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 8 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    parallel-web.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip parallel-web.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip parallel-web.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Pin the CLI to the reviewed version 0.9.3 and check parallel-cli --version before running commands
  • Use a dedicated Parallel API key with spending limits, and keep it out of command arguments and logs
  • Reserve Deep Research and Monitor for requests that explicitly need exhaustive reports or recurring tracking, since they create paid jobs or persistent state
