What it does

When you finish a development session, this skill makes the AI agent check whether your README, architecture docs, CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md rule files, and any agent memory notes still match the real code and running system. It fixes stale or contradictory statements in place, flags leftover files like old plans or backup copies, and reports what is verified, pending, or not applicable. It asks before deleting anything and does not edit other projects or memory without permission.

Great for

  • Developers who want docs and AI rule files kept in sync after a coding session
  • Teams handing a project to a teammate or a fresh AI session and needing one current source of truth
  • Solo builders with a small project who need a minimal CLAUDE.md or AGENTS.md created

Skip it if

  • Pure coding, refactoring or debugging tasks; the skill says it should not trigger for these
  • Tidying data, prose or changelogs that are not project knowledge, since the skill is scoped to project documentation and rules
  • Anyone expecting automatic cleanup without review: deletions and memory writes require explicit user confirmation or authorization

Try asking

  • “neat-freak: sync the docs and CLAUDE.md with what the code does now”
  • “把文档和记忆整理一下,收尾时同步掉”
  • “The docs don't match the code anymore, reconcile the README and architecture doc”
  • “Audit whether our workspace rules in CLAUDE.md are actually followed and remove dead references”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Neat Freak Project CloseoutInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 15 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    neat-freak.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip neat-freak.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip neat-freak.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Name the project root or scope explicitly so the agent limits its checks to that project
  • Expect a two-stage report: review the changes first, then confirm any cleanup or deletion candidates separately
  • If you do not want the agent writing to agent memory, say so up front; memory is read-only by default
