What it does

This skill lets an agent review logs of how the ARIS research harness has been used and suggest improvements to the harness itself, such as SKILL.md prompts, reviewer instructions, default parameters, and workflow ordering. It only proposes changes: it writes its report and staged patches under .aris/meta/ and does not edit the skill files, which a separate human-invoked skill (/meta-apply) must land. It needs at least 5 logged skill invocations before it produces useful analysis.

Great for

  • Developers maintaining or customizing the ARIS research harness who want data-driven tweaks to its skills
  • Teams that already run ARIS workflows with logging enabled and have accumulated usage history

Skip it if

  • Users who have not enabled the meta_logging hook: the skill exits with an error when no event log exists
  • Anyone expecting it to change files automatically: landing changes is deliberately gated behind a separate human-run step, and the skill's Bash access can still write in some obscured ways that its guard does not block

Try asking

  • “meta optimize”
  • “improve skills based on my recent ARIS runs”
  • “分析使用记录 for the review-loop skill”
  • “optimize the default MAX_ROUNDS across my workflows”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Meta-Optimize Skill TunerInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    meta-optimize.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip meta-optimize.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip meta-optimize.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run it only after several complete workflow runs so the analysis has real data to work from
  • Review the staged patches yourself before running /meta-apply, since the proposals come from the same model family that produced the behaviour
  • Install the corpus_write_guard hook as extra protection, remembering it is a blacklist and not a full sandbox
