What it does
When you ask what a term, system, role, or method means, this skill makes the agent write an explanation in plain language. It first says what the thing is and how it differs from similar ideas, then shows how it works through an example, then notes which earlier assumption should change, and finally gives practical guidance for dealing with it. The output is saved as a Markdown note in a local folder, with a validator script that checks the note's structure.
Great for
- Learners who know a term's definition but cannot yet recognize it in practice
- People who want a short, structured reading of a technical concept, institution, or practice
- Writers and teachers who want concept notes in a consistent format
Skip it if
- Simple fact lookups or formal proofs, where a direct answer is enough (the skill's own boundary rules say so)
- Step-by-step software tutorials, since the skill gives judgment cues rather than procedures
- Deep causal analysis or structural analysis, which the skill routes to other skills (ljg-think, ljg-structure)
Try asking
- “What is a objective function, and how should I judge whether an optimization is good?”
- “I know recursion calls itself, but when should I use it in my code? Explain what it is and how to decide.”
- “Explain what a performance review system really does to employees and how to evaluate one.”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Ask about one concept at a time so the four-part explanation stays focused.
- Say whether you want a conceptual understanding or a formal definition; the skill only handles the first.
- Check the saved note's definition and guidance against your own situation before acting on them.
