What it does

Once installed, the agent keeps your job applications as a pipeline: each opportunity gets a stage, real dates, the exact resume version sent, a next action and a follow-up date. It can run a weekly review showing stale applications and simple funnel counts, and it drafts messages such as follow-ups, thank-you notes, referral requests and withdrawals. It never sends anything itself; you send and decide, and it logs what you tell it you sent.

Great for

  • People running an active job search who want a tracker maintained through conversation
  • Job seekers who lose track of follow-ups and want reminders in a weekly review
  • Users who keep a Markdown or CSV tracker, or who use Reactive Resume with its MCP tools

Skip it if

  • Resume writing or tailoring; the skill explicitly hands that to other skills (resume-tailor, resume-bullet-writer), so it adds no resume content itself
  • Interview practice or offer negotiation; these are routed to other skills, and treating its drafts as negotiation advice could lead to weak decisions
  • Anyone wanting it to submit applications or send messages automatically; by design it only drafts, and the user must send

Try asking

  • “Add this job to my tracker: [paste link or posting]”
  • “I applied to the Acme data analyst role today, log it with the resume version I sent”
  • “Do my weekly review and tell me what I should follow up on”
  • “Draft a polite follow-up to the recruiter at Northwind who has not replied in ten days”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Job Application ManagerInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 7 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    job-application-manager.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip job-application-manager.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip job-application-manager.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Paste the posting text rather than a link when possible, since fetched pages are treated as untrusted and may be incomplete
  • Tell the agent the date you actually applied or heard back so follow-up timing and funnel stats stay accurate
  • Review every drafted message before sending, and confirm any changes to records when the agent asks
