What it does
Once installed, when you give the agent a broad research topic, it brainstorms possible research ideas, checks them against the literature found through web search, and ranks them by how publishable they look. The skill describes a multi-phase workflow that can also call other helper skills for novelty checks, small pilot experiments, and reviews by a second AI model. The visible SKILL.md is mostly a workflow and configuration description; the full behaviour depends on those referenced helper skills and tools.
Great for
- Researchers or PhD students looking for directions in an unfamiliar area
- Teams that want a structured list of candidate projects with rough feasibility notes
- Users already running the wider ARIS research pipeline
Skip it if
- People who need a finished, verified research contribution: generated ideas still need expert judgement and a real novelty check, since the agent can produce plausible but already-published work.
- Users who do not want experiments run automatically: the workflow can launch GPU pilot runs and may spend budget (its configuration sets an 8 GPU-hour total cap) if the required helper tools are present.
Try asking
- “Brainstorm publishable research ideas for federated learning on edge devices”
- “Find what we can work on in retrieval-augmented generation for medical QA”
- “Generate and rank research ideas for efficient long-context transformers”
- “找idea for graph neural networks in drug discovery”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Give a specific, narrow research direction rather than a whole field, so the generated ideas are more concrete.
- Check every idea with a literature search yourself before investing time, because novelty claims are generated by the agent.
- Leave pilot budgets low at first and review the reviewer and GPU settings before running the full workflow.
