What it does
When installed, the agent can evaluate a Google Cloud workload against the Performance Optimization pillar of Google's Well-Architected Framework, a set of best-practice guidelines. It asks structured questions about resource sizing, caching, modular design, and monitoring, then gives recommendations on compute, storage, scaling, and observability. It also provides a checklist to judge how well an existing architecture follows these practices.
Great for
- Engineers reviewing the performance design of a Google Cloud application before launch
- Architects who want a structured set of performance questions for a design review
- Teams preparing a Well-Architected Framework assessment
Skip it if
- Hands-on configuration or deployment: the skill provides guidance and questions, not tooling to change resources, and it does not make a live environment faster by itself
- Workloads on other cloud providers, since the content is specific to Google Cloud products
Try asking
- “Review my Cloud Run and Memorystore setup for performance bottlenecks using the Well-Architected Framework”
- “Ask me the right performance questions for a new high-traffic e-commerce backend on Google Cloud”
- “Give me a checklist to evaluate whether my architecture handles traffic spikes well”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Provide your workload details, such as traffic patterns, latency targets, and current architecture, so recommendations are specific rather than generic.
- The skill says to read a linked attribution file before running gcloud, REST API, or MCP commands; review that file if you plan to use those tools alongside it.
- The grounding documents are referenced as URLs, so the agent may fetch them for current content; verify key recommendations against Google's official documentation.
