What it does
When installed, the agent acts as a step-by-step setup wizard for Service Level Objective (SLO) alerts in Google Cloud Monitoring. It asks you for the target service, the reliability target, the indicator being measured, and the alert condition, then writes Terraform (.tf) files that create the alerting policies. It can also use gcloud to look up your App Hub services or underlying resources to fill in details for you.
Great for
- Site reliability or platform engineers who want SLO-based alerts on Cloud Run or other Google Cloud services
- Teams that manage Google Cloud infrastructure with Terraform and want generated alert policy code
- Users who already know their SLO target and metric and want help with the PromQL and configuration structure
Skip it if
- Standard, non-SLO alerting policies, which the skill's own description says it does not cover
- Users without a Google Cloud project or Terraform workflow, since the output is Terraform and the lookups need gcloud access
- Anyone expecting the skill to verify that generated alerts work in production, as it only produces configuration files
Try asking
- “Set up a 99.9% availability SLO alert for my Cloud Run service frontend in project my-proj”
- “Discover the services in my App Hub application and suggest SLO alerts for the most critical backends”
- “Generate Terraform for a latency SLO on my workload using the best-practice defaults”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Give the agent the project, service name, and SLO target up front so it can skip questions it doesn't need to ask.
- Review the generated Terraform and the PromQL math before applying it, and add your own notification channels, since none are set by default.
- Say 'use best practices' to let the agent fill in remaining defaults, but check that the defaults match your reliability goals.
