What it does
When a Filestore network file share on Google Cloud will not mount or suddenly stops working, this skill guides the agent through checking the likely causes: VPC firewall rules, the share's export access list, and the client's IP or GKE node subnet. The agent can then explain findings and suggest fixes. It also includes a bundled Python script that can run these checks against a live instance, and it is designed to ask for your confirmation before changing anything.
Great for
- Engineers whose VM, GKE pod, Cloud Run service or Vertex AI job cannot mount a Filestore share
- Cloud admins investigating a share that broke after a firewall or export-policy change
Skip it if
- Cloud Storage buckets, Persistent Disk or NetApp Volumes, which the skill explicitly excludes
- Capacity scaling or backup/export-policy auditing, also excluded, so the skill may not be the right tool (risk: wrong advice for those tasks)
Try asking
- “My GKE pod cannot mount the Filestore share at 10.0.0.2 and gets Connection timed out. Find out why.”
- “Check whether firewall rules allow client subnet 10.4.0.0/14 to reach instance ml-data in us-central1.”
- “Explain what causes EACCES when mounting Filestore, without running any commands.”

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Give the instance ID, location, project and client IP or subnet up front so the agent does not need to ask.
- Use the no-command mode or --json output if you want a read-only review before any action.
- Treat mock fleet data in the references as examples only; always verify against live resources.
