What it does
When asked to prepare or review a Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) cluster or workload for production, the agent inspects the current setup using gcloud and kubectl commands, then works through a checklist covering scaling, observability, reliability, security, backup and disaster recovery, ingress, cost, and upgrades. It delegates each area to other specialized skills, then produces a red/amber/green report with an overall readiness score to prioritise fixes. It does not implement most changes itself.
Great for
- Platform or DevOps engineers preparing a GKE cluster for a production launch
- Teams wanting a structured readiness audit with prioritised remediation
- Developers moving a containerised app from staging to production on GKE
Skip it if
- Deep single-topic work such as only configuring autoscaling; the skdescription points to narrower skills for that, which are not included here
- Non-GKE Kubernetes or other clouds, since the commands and checks are GKE-specific
- Running against production clusters without review: the agent may run read commands against live infrastructure using your credentials
Try asking
- “Assess my GKE cluster prod-east in project my-project before we go live”
- “Review the workload checkout-api in namespace shop for production readiness”
- “Audit our GKE setup for security and reliability gaps and give me a RAG score”
- “Help me productionize this app that is not on Kubernetes yet”

Add it to your agent
Claude Code (all projects)
mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip gke-productionize.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)
mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip gke-productionize.zip -d .claude/skills/Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

Ask for the task
No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.
Get better results
- Give the agent the cluster name, location and project up front so discovery commands run correctly
- Use read-only credentials for the assessment and review any remediation changes before applying them
- Check that the companion skills are installed, since the workflow depends on them
