What it does

When installed, the agent follows a set of visual rules for building web pages with thin 1px boundary lines around each section, small L-shaped corner marks, a very faint diagonal background texture, and a strict 12-column grid so every section lines up. It also supplies ready-made CSS snippets and an HTML example to start from. It is a design guide for the agent, not a tool that changes anything on its own.

Great for

  • Front-end designers who want a precise, technical or editorial page style
  • Developers building documentation, guide or system-style pages who need consistent section alignment
  • Anyone asking an AI agent for a clean, neutral, structured web layout

Skip it if

  • Projects with a bold, playful or heavily branded visual style, since the rules push toward neutral minimalism
  • Sites that need rounded floating cards or soft shadows, which the skill explicitly avoids
  • Users who only want a finished website template; the skill gives layout rules and snippets rather than a full site

Try asking

  • “Create a landing page for a technical product using a framed grid layout with corner brackets”
  • “Turn this homepage wireframe into a structured editorial layout with thin section borders”
  • “Build a documentation index page with a 12-column framed grid that collapses to one column on mobile”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Framed Grid LayoutInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 4 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    framed-grid-layout.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip framed-grid-layout.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip framed-grid-layout.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Name the page type and content sections up front so the agent can map them onto the 12-column grid
  • Ask for the design tokens to be adjusted to your brand colours rather than keeping the neutral defaults
  • Check the result with the skill's quick checks, especially that the texture stays barely visible and the layout still reads without it
