What it does

Once installed, the agent follows a structured workflow to read a company's primary earnings materials (annual/quarterly reports, call transcripts, shareholder letters) rather than relying on news summaries. It checks cash flow, balance sheet health, management tone and promise tracking, and footnote red flags, then writes a report to a reports folder with a clear conclusion on whether results beat, met, or missed expectations and how they affect an investment thesis. The skill is written in Chinese and is a Codex adapter of a longer canonical workflow, with some steps referencing repo tools and other files not included here.

Great for

  • Investors or analysts who want a structured first-pass read of a listed company's filings
  • Users working inside the xbtlin/ai-berkshire repository who already have its tools/ and skills/ folders
  • Chinese-speaking users researching A-share, Hong Kong, US or Taiwan listed companies

Skip it if

  • Making buy or sell decisions without independent verification: the skill outputs position suggestions and relies on third-party data that may be inaccurate (it itself flags cross-source errors above 1%)
  • Use outside the full repository: the SKILL.md references tools/financial_rigor.py, tools/report_audit.py and skills/financial-data.md, which are not in this folder, so the workflow will fail or be incomplete alone
  • Users needing guaranteed live data: it depends on web access and on whatever sources are reachable at run time

Try asking

  • “Do an earnings review of Tencent's 2025Q4 results and save the report”
  • “Analyze PDD's 2025 annual report and tell me whether it beat expectations”
  • “Review Meituan's latest quarter and assess the impact on my investment thesis”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Earnings Review Deep-ReadInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    earnings-review.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip earnings-review.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip earnings-review.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Run it from the repository root so the tools/ paths resolve, and let the agent state the data cutoff date it checks with the date command
  • Check the report's source grade (A/B/C) and whether figures are labelled as third-party before relying on them
  • Verify key numbers yourself against the original filing, since the skill's own workflow asks for cross-checks that can still fail
