What it does

When a user asks broadly about organizing project documentation or checking documentation integrity, this skill helps the agent pick the most specific existing ECC skill for the job, such as a living-docs or ADR skill. It can also run a bundled Python audit that checks mapped documentation files, local Markdown links, ADR indexes and test IDs, and reports problems without changing any files.

Great for

  • Maintainers of repositories with many long-lived docs, ADRs, or project status files who want consistent governance
  • Developers who want a deterministic check that local doc links and ADR indexes are intact before a release
  • Teams unsure which documentation workflow applies to a request

Skip it if

  • Narrow, clearly named tasks such as writing a single ADR or editing one doc, since the skill says to bypass the router in those cases
  • Projects without the ECC skill set installed, because the routed skills must exist separately; the audit alone does not replace human review of document accuracy

Try asking

  • “Check whether our documentation links and ADR index are intact”
  • “Organize our long-lived project docs”
  • “Run a read-only documentation integrity audit with the full scope”
Step-by-step guide: how to use Documentation Governance RouterInstall, first run, examples, tips and FAQs

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 6 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    docs-governance.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip docs-governance.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip docs-governance.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Ask for a specific audit scope (spine, context, adr, artifacts) to keep results focused.
  • Review warnings as prompts for human judgment; only exit code 1 indicates mechanically provable failures.
  • Read the scripts before running them on an unfamiliar repository, since the skill executes Python.
