What it does

This skill gives the agent a playbook for shipping web applications to production. Once installed, when you ask about deploying or releasing software, the agent follows its guidance on choosing a rollout method (rolling, blue-green or canary), writing Docker build files for Node.js, Go or Python apps, setting up a GitHub Actions pipeline with test, build and deploy stages, and adding health check endpoints. It is reference material and templates; it does not deploy anything itself.

Great for

  • Developers setting up CI/CD or containerizing a web app for the first time
  • Teams planning a release strategy and wanting a checklist of good and bad Docker practices
  • Engineers who want starter Dockerfile and GitHub Actions templates to adapt

Skip it if

  • Projects on platforms that already handle deployment for you, where these templates may not match, since the pipeline sample leaves the actual deploy command as a placeholder
  • Anyone expecting the agent to push to production automatically; the skill only provides patterns and example code, and the sample deploy step just echoes a message
  • Production use without review: the example Dockerfiles and pipeline use pinned versions that may be outdated and need checking against your own stack

Try asking

  • “Write a multi-stage Dockerfile for my Node.js app that runs as a non-root user”
  • “Set up a GitHub Actions pipeline that runs lint, tests and builds a Docker image on merge to main”
  • “Which deployment strategy should I use for a high-traffic API: canary or blue-green?”
  • “Add a /health endpoint and a Docker HEALTHCHECK to my service”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 1 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    deployment-patterns.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip deployment-patterns.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip deployment-patterns.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give the agent your actual stack and hosting platform so it adapts the placeholder deploy step rather than copying it verbatim
  • Ask it to review the generated Dockerfile against the included good and bad practices list before building
  • Treat the pinned image versions and example commands as starting points and verify them against current documentation
