What it does

Once installed, the agent knows how to build a CrewAI project: it defines several AI agents with roles, goals and backstories, assigns them tasks, and runs them as a crew either one after another or with an automatically created manager agent delegating work. It also covers connecting built-in web search, scraping and file tools, writing custom tools, and using memory and event-driven Flows. Its reference files add guidance on flows, tools and troubleshooting.

Great for

  • Python developers prototyping multi-agent workflows with specialized roles
  • Teams comparing CrewAI against LangChain or LangGraph for agent orchestration
  • Developers who want a sequential or hierarchical pipeline of LLM steps with memory

Skip it if

  • Non-programmers, since the skill is about writing and running Python code and CLI commands
  • Sensitive or production data without review, because the tools can read files and fetch web pages and the framework calls paid LLM APIs that can run up costs (rate limits are configurable but not enforced by this skill)

Try asking

  • “Create a CrewAI project with a researcher and a writer agent that produces a blog post on a topic”
  • “Set up a hierarchical crew with a manager agent that delegates research, writing and analysis tasks”
  • “Add web search and PDF search tools to my agent and explain how to assign them”
  • “Write a custom CrewAI tool that performs calculations and wire it into an agent”

Install in 3 steps

  1. 1

    Download the skill

    The ZIP contains the 4 original files, the MIT licence and an attribution note.

    crewai.zip
  2. 2

    Add it to your agent

    Claude Code (all projects)

    mkdir -p ~/.claude/skills && unzip crewai.zip -d ~/.claude/skills/

    Claude Code / Agent SDK (this project only)

    mkdir -p .claude/skills && unzip crewai.zip -d .claude/skills/

    Claude apps (web/desktop): Settings → Capabilities → Skills → Upload skill, and choose the ZIP.

  3. 3

    Ask for the task

    No special command needed — the agent reads the skill's description and loads it when your request matches. Try one of the prompts above.

Get better results

  • Give each agent a specific role, goal and backstory, and set expected_output on each task so results are checkable
  • Set max_rpm, max_iter and cache options to control cost and loops before running a crew on real tasks
  • Review the references/troubleshooting.md file when crews stall or tool calls fail, and test with a small input first
